Economist · Author · Strategist
Austrian School economist and founder of Anubis Intelligence & Strategy. He analyzes power, institutions and markets to turn information into decisions.
Profile
Diego Mauricio Macana Roa (Colombia, 1987) is an Austrian School economist, author, and founder of Anubis Intelligence & Strategy and the Círculo Huerta de Soto. Based in Buenos Aires since 2010, he pursued his economic training at the University of Buenos Aires and, since 2017, in the Austrian tradition as a student of Jesús Huerta de Soto.
From 2020 to 2022 he taught at the Academia Libertaria, lecturing on Austrian economics, political philosophy and the history of liberal thought to students across Latin America, and he served as a coordinator of Estudiantes por la Libertad (Students For Liberty). He writes economic and opinion columns for La Derecha Diario and MisesReport, among other outlets, and through his account @DiegoMac227 —“Escuela Austriaca de Economía”— he brings these ideas to more than one hundred thousand followers.
His own path, from militant statism to the Austrian School, runs through all of his work: for him, understanding how people on the other side think is the precondition for persuading them.
“The road to anarcho-capitalism does not begin in a library. It begins with an honest conversation. The library comes later.”

Insights
Technical reports on Argentina’s economy, public finances and institutions, built exclusively on official sources. Reports are published in Spanish, with an English summary on this page.
A financial analysis of the year’s positive result and an assessment of the Office of the Auditor General’s observation on the central bank’s gold hedging operations.
The Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) closed 2025 with a net result of ARS 34.3 trillion and equity of ARS 51.3 trillion (+66.3%), with an unqualified opinion from the Office of the Auditor General (AGN). In an emphasis-of-matter paragraph, the AGN presented the result of the derivatives the BCRA used to hedge its gold position as a USD 1,023 million loss.
The central conclusion: that figure, arithmetically correct as the balance of the hedging instruments, does not measure the economic result of the operation, because it leaves out the appreciation of the hedged asset, USD 3,379.5 million. With both legs consolidated, the gold position posted a positive result of between USD 2,356.5 and 2,505 million.

Prologue by Jesús Huerta de Soto
Anarcho-Capitalism: A Society Without the State is a systematic journey —from the School of Salamanca to Mises, Rothbard, Hoppe and Huerta de Soto— that reverses the burden of proof: it is not voluntary cooperation that must justify itself before the State, but the State that must justify its monopoly on coercion.
The book examines the origin of the State, the social contract, economic calculation and public choice; revisits the Boston anarchists, Molinari and Spencer; and sets out how security, justice, money and public goods would work without a monopoly. It also includes the author’s own account of how he stopped being a statist.
“One can hardly deny that this book asks the right questions. And asking the right questions is already to have traveled a good part of the intellectual road.”
Jesús Huerta de Soto, from the prologue · translated from Spanish
In progress
In 1513 Machiavelli wrote a manual for rulers to conquer and keep power. This book reads him from the other side —alongside La Boétie and Jouvenel— to learn to look power in the face and not obey it automatically.
“It is not a manual for conquering power: it is the opposite. It is a manual for not being conquered by it.”
In progress
Schopenhauer taught the art of being right; this book proposes another: the art of persuading. Psychology, power and strategy to turn conversations into opportunities for influence, with a clear line between persuasion and manipulation.
“An argument won fairly can produce exactly the opposite of what its winner wanted.”
Speaking and teaching
His lectures revolve around three themes: the Austrian School of Economics, politics and philosophy. The aim is to take the foundations of a free society —money, economic calculation, property and the limits of power— from the classroom to public debate, with the rigor of the academic tradition and the language of someone speaking to a real audience.
He has given talks and training sessions for political parties, for Estudiantes por la Libertad —an organization he once coordinated— and for AULA, among other university groups, in addition to his work as a professor at the Academia Libertaria.
Value, money and the business cycle: from the School of Salamanca to Mises, Hayek, Rothbard and Huerta de Soto.
Power, institutions and Argentina’s current affairs, read through political economy.
Property, liberty and ethics: the moral foundations of a free society.
